It’s so wonderful that we are all free to travel again after a few years of not being able to! There are just so many amazing places in the world and its time to learn to let go of the FEAR of FLYING with the help of hypnosis.

During my many years as a clinical hypnotherapist, based in Perth, although I have helped people all over the world lose their fear of flying and enjoy a new freedom. I have come across many people who have had such a severe fear of flying due to many reasons. Some have been frightened as a child and they may have heard a bad story or seen something frightening on TV. Some clients have experienced really bad turbulence and others are frightened of taking off!

The anxiety they may have experienced are shortness of breath, perspiring, clammy hands, pain in their chest, incredible fear of dying, crying and hanging on to the arms of the chair so tightly they hurt their hands. These are just some of the negative emotions experienced with Flying. Sometimes just thinking about getting onto a plane can cause these extreme emotions and discomfort.

In todays blog I share with you 5 top tips on how to overcome your fear of flying. As a hypnotherapist it is my aim to not only treat but also to educate people on ways to deal with fear of flying.

So just know you can get over your fear of flying with the help of hypnotherapy and really enjoy those amazing sights in our wonderful world.

Or for those others who need to fly for work, begin to feel more relaxed about flying and even begin to look forward and enjoy it. I have seen clients change their careers and have incredible work opportunities once they have let go of their fear.

The sessions are around an hour and a half, always a pleasant experience and you should leave feeling more positive.

Some clients are fine with one session and others need more as everyone is different.

My top 5 tips to overcome the fear of flying

1-Tapping

I have used Tapping on many of my clients as a technique to overcome fear of flying –  Tapping is a technique where you tap on the Chinese meridians of your body whilst speaking about your fear. This helps to bring you back to your body and become present in the moment.

2- Breathing

I teach my clients to breath in to the count of 3, hold for the count of 3 and release to the count of 3. By doing this , you will begin to relax and slow your heart beat down. When you are focusing on these breathing rhythms it distracts you from any other negative thoughts or emotions you may be experiencing.

3- SMILE MORE

I often teach my clients the art of smiling as this can have many positive effects on your state. Smiling has been scientifically proven to change your mood. If you smile you change your physiology you will notice very quickly that you will start to feel better. ” I always teach my clients about the wonderful Vagus Nervous System ”

4- Visualisation and meditation

Did you know that 20 minutes of meditation is equivalent to 7 hours of sleep? Meditation is becoming more and more popular as a form of relaxing the nervous system . You should spend at least 15 minutes a day meditating in quiet space where you can let go of all your thoughts and let your mind wonder.

Did you know that your mind doesn’t know the difference between between what’s real and what’s not? Thats why visualisation is such an effective method with dealing with any fears such as flying. Spend 5 minutes a day using your imagination to visualise your perfect self. Through enough practice you will find that your imagination will start to become your reality.

5- Self Hypnosis

You can self hypnotise your self by bringing your self back to the present moment. Find a safe peaceful space where you can do this.  You can begin by imagining yourself in a safe peaceful place and then bring that tranquility to every cell in your body. Take a deep breath and as you release the breath think of the word relax and you can also use a finger to become your peaceful safe place finger. If at anytime you are feeling fear or anxiety, be simple putting our thumb on that finger it will bring you back to a place of calmness and tranquility. This is referred to as Anchoring in NLP.
